Hey everyone! Coming at you with a personal post this week!
It's been over a month since I moved down to Nashville for the summer after my first internship was canceled, and I have loved every second of it.
Let's start with a little job update:
When I first got to Nashville, the city was deciding if they would be ready to move to Phase 3 of their reopening plan. Although everything was pretty much back to normal already, this would allow larger events to happen.
The event venue I was set to work at was obviously waiting for this decision for their upcoming events. Unfortunately, Nashville waited a few more weeks to move to Phase 3, so the venue had to push all their events back until the beginning of July.
Although I was a little bummed to have to wait that long to start working, I got to have the best month exploring the city, having friends come to visit, and making the best memories. I stayed busy with my online classes + made some money through Door Dash (this is legit the easiest way ever to make money).
Since I wasn't able to start my job as early as I would have liked to, I decided to reach out to a different wedding venue that I had been talking to last the fall. It's about 40 minutes out of the city, so they were able to start having events sooner since they are in a different county. After a few emails and a visit to the venue, I had picked up another job!
I worked my first two weddings this weekend, and the job was everything I could have ever hoped for! The wedding venue is called The White Dove Barn, and it is one of the prettiest places ever with an amazing staff!
While I was having a great weekend finally getting to work, there was a COVID spike in the city that brought the reopening of Nashville to a halt. We actually have had to move back to Phase 2, and all events are now only 25 people or less. I just found out today that this has canceled all of the weddings at the venue I was supposed to work at in the city.
That's right, another internship canceled. 😅
Although I am a little bummed, I am SO thankful I decided to reach out to the other venue and get to continue getting experience with them. This summer has taught me so many things, but it has definitely taught me the importance of working hard, not settling in the position you're in, and putting yourself out there.
Now some Nashville recommendations you guys have been asking for:
I plan on doing a full post/Nashville travel guide at the end of the summer, but I thought I would do a mini recommendation list since I've been getting quite a few messages about it!
So here are some of my favorite places to go + things to do so far!
Biscuit Love (if you want to skip a huge line + see an adorable little suburb of the city, go to the one in Franklin!)
The Pancake Pantry
The Grilled Cheeserie
Hattie B's Hot Chicken (a must)
Five Point's Pizza
American Taphouse (this is in Franklin, but totally worth the drive!)
Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream (the only one on the list because it is the absolute BEST)
Grand Ole Opry (the best place on Earth)
Yee-Haw Brewing Co.
Embers Ski Lodge
Pins Mechanical Company
SHOPPING (these are all areas of town with the cutest little boutiques + shops!):
As of now, most restaurants and businesses are still open, but they do require a mask! If you are ever planning a trip down or have any questions, let me know :)
I could have never imagined my summer plans would have changed this much, but it all worked out so well in the long run! You guys have all been so supportive through all of this + I appreciate it SO much 💛
